A chance to meet people, exchange languages, support asylum applicants, have a game of pool, table-tennis or chess and generally enjoy the company over a hot drink and a bite to eat.

Benefit Concert for Welsh Refugee Council and Freedom from Torture

@ Stow Park Church Centre, Brynhyfryd Avenue, Newport, NP20 4FX

Tickets are £8.00 (£6.00 for concessions) and are to be purchased on the door, refreshments will be available. Proceeds from the concert will be shared between Freedom From Torture and the Welsh Refugee Council.

Performers include Frankie Armstrong (a folk legend with an international reputation who has been singing professionally for over forty years), Sarah Harman, Cascapella (Newport’s very own community choir), Canton Singers,The Quiet Ranters, Laura and Ruth Bradshaw, Pauline Down and Variegated Women.

Monthly Question and Answer session for new asylum seekers

Are you an asylum seeker and new to Cardiff? – We can help you understand the UK asylum process…

The Welsh Refugee Council is now hosting monthly question and answer sessions about the asylum process to asylum seekers and newly arrived people to Cardiff.

The sessions include information on:

  • Claiming asylum in UK.
  • Life in Cardiff and Wales.
  • Communicating with the Home Office.
  • Where to find the necessary services and support you will need.
  • How to make a complaint.
  • Understanding and adjusting to life in the UK.

Cardiff Destitution Network meeting

Meeting of organisations in Cardiff to discuss destitution services and gaps in provision. We are looking to work closer together in the months and years ahead to tackle destitution in south Wales…

This is under the umbrella of Cardiff Destitution Network and hosted by the Welsh Refugee Council.
